How can I record video directly from my digital camera to my MacBook Pro?

Q: How can I record video directly from my digital camera to my MacBook Pro?

I recently bought a Canon PowerShot SX130 IS, and I was interested in recording video directly to my Mac OS X computer instead of first to the camera and then transferring it. It seems that once I connect the camera it turns into simply a USB drive and no longer lets me record or take pictures.

I assume this is intention from Canon but it’s unfortunate because it prevents me from an extra usage.

Hi SleekCC….. It sounds like this is not possible with this camera. I would say that if you were able to plug the camera in and it would still allow you to take picture/video then there would probably be some 3rd party application that would allow you to record video. But since you can’t have it plugged in and perform Video operations I don’t think that this can happen with that camera. I would suggest getting a high quality web camera to do this.
