How do I turn on my wireless network?

Q: How do I turn on my wireless network? It says I have to use the function keys to turn it on and when I search the net it tells me to use fn and F2 but it did nothing.

It sounds like you’re trying to figure out how to turn on the wireless card in your laptop. Every laptop handles this differently, some use FN + an F key, or some have a switch somewhere on the sides of the laptop.

Generally you’ll see some kind of antenna icon printed on the key in blue, if so, hold down the FN key and then press this other key.

If you’re still having trouble, you’ll need to look at the manual for your specific laptop. If you don’t have this handy you can review it on-line by going to the manufacturer’s website.

Note that even if you turn your wireless card on, you won’t be able to get onto the internet unless there is a wifi connection nearby. So if you’re at home, and don’t have a paid internet connection from an internet service provider and a router that supports wireless networking you’re not going to be able to connect to anything.
