What is the best tablet to get a person that likes to draw cartoons and anime?

Q: I want to get my daughter a computer tablet for Christmas but don’t know which one would be the best for her. She is into drawing cartoon and anime drawings and wants to be able to upload them on the computer to share with her other artsy friends. She will be doing nothing real complicated, but maybe a few features that will allow her to grow with it would be nice. What do you suggest?

If you’re a graphic artist you’re generally not going to be working with an iPad or something similar. The touch interface isn’t designed for detailed drawing.

You’ll want to look into some of the options offered by Wacom: http://www.wacom.com/index2.php

These are electronic drawing pads that hook into your computer directly.

Wacom’s products range in price from $50 to $3,000 for a pad depending on the features. I strongly suggest you read the many reviews on Amazon to understand the differences between the different pads, and if you’ll need to buy any additional software.
