How come I cannot hear voices with my DVD home theater system?

by on December 25, 2010

Q: I just purchased the Curtis DVD5088 5.1-Ch DVD Home Theater System (great deal) Anyway, I tried to hook it up and the sound was funny so I asked a cable installer friend to help. He hooked everything up perfectly but the sound is weird. We are able to hear everything like door slams and the music soundtrack on the dvd but there’s no sound on the actually people talking? Please help…anyone?? Happy & Safe Holidays!!!

  1.

With a 5.1 audio track all the voices usually get sent only to the center channel speaker. So focus on that.

The center speaker could be defective or wired wrong. Might even be an issue with the receiver.

Try checking that wiring for the center channel and maybe put a different speaker in it’s place if possible to trouble shoot the issue.

Best of luck and enjoy your Holiday weekend!
