Do I need an antivirus program to go along with Microsoft Security Essentials?

Q: Is “Microsoft security essentials” the same as an anti-virus program or do I need an anti-virus to go with the essentials program?

    You can use this as your only antivirus program but it is always safer to have a second.

    There are some great comparison articles in the links below comparing free antivirus and paid antivirus. The highest rated free antivirus seems to be avast.

    Personally I use Security Essentials and Malwarebytes.
