Why does my computer keep giving me a blue screen and rebooting when I login?

by on February 6, 2011

Q: I have a gateway laptop and I was cleaning out some stuff and uninstalling them and it restarted on me and now it wont turn on. It tries to turn on but when he goes to to desktop where I sign in as guest or something it comes up a blue screen and then restarts all over again. How can I fix it?

how do i get to that if i am not on that computer i am on my old one tryin to find ways to fix my new one..

On your new computer try to boot into safe mode. When your computer starts booting up press the F8 key a few times and you should have the option to boot into safe mode. If you have a restore point you can try to restore to a previous point. If you don’t you may want to try to reinstall drivers.

It sounds like you either deleted a system file or driver that is causing the blue screen. If you are still having problems please post the message from the blue screen and we can look into further.

If the computer that is blue-screening is rebooting automatically and not giving you a chance to write down the error message & codes try this:

First reboot into safe mode at Jselden suggested, then Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System
    Go to Advanced
Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings…
Under System Failure un-check “Automatically restart”

Now close everything out and reboot the computer when the blue screen comes up again it will stay there and you can make note of the error.

The sections in the red box are the important parts we’d need to make a suggestion: http://i.imgur.com/IFF3E.jpg

i pressed f8 and it still aint working.. & i do not have the d’s to reinstall the driver because last time i got it all cleaned out by a professional and they put windows vista on it & i do not have any disks

If you are unable to boot into safe mode and do not have the discs I might suggest trying to contact the professional who put Vista onto your computer and find out what discs he has available to you. It seems like what needs to be done is to have the Vista discs to repair the system.
