Is there anyway to write a .ts file to a DVD without having to buy an HD DVD writer?

by on February 14, 2011

Q: I got my hands on a 15 gb .ts video file. The problem is I want to write it to a DVD so I can free up some space. I know .ts stands for transport streaming and that it’s simply a MPEG-2 kind of file. My question is if there’s a way to write it without having to split it in 4 parts(4DVDs) and without having to buy a HDDVD writer.

    Picked as best answer

You might be able to edit the video and lower the quality, but at that point you are going to be left with a sub-DVD quality video, so you’d be much better off “getting your hands” on an original DVD quality version instead.

Your best option would probably be to pick up an additional harddrive for some more space.

Yeah I already bought the thing on Amazon, I want to make a copy so the original one wont get ruined. I guess I’ll buy me an external hdd.
    Oh and thanks!
