How come my MacBook can connect to my neightbors WiFi by my Dell cannot?

Q: i am currently using my macbook to ask you this question right now. i have no problem using my neighbors wifi on my computer because they dont use a password. my girlfriend just got a new dell computer and it keeps saying that there is no network access when she tries to go on the internet using the same wifi that im on. she doesnt have any problem using free wifi anywhere else so why is she having problems using this network. i dont understand this and i dont know how to fix it. if you would please help me out with this situation it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

    As a warning it is illegal to use your neighbors internet without proper permission.

    But if you have permission then I will continue. The reason her laptop may not even find the network may be because of several reasons. First it may not be able to recognize as strong of a signal as your Mac Book. Secondly it would have to be the right kind of wireless to connect. See what kind of connection you are using. (A, B, G, N) then see if her Dell is compatible with that signal. Lastly if it still cannot connect to any wireless signals at all there may be a problem with her wireless on her laptop.
