Will a car stereo unit be able to scale video clips or will I have to do it myself?

Q: Hey Guys

I’m going to install a new unit in my car that reads AVi files and etc. The resolution is 800 x 480 and most of my music clips are in 720p to 1080p resolution.

Question is : will my unit still play those files by down-scaling them to its resolution which is 800 x 480 ? Or will I have to re-burn those videos into 800 x 480 resolution so it can play them ?

This is going to totally depend on the unit. You might need to check with the manufacturer or the manual to see what the video requirements are for playback.

Down-scaling them will make the files a lot smaller so you’ll be able to have a lot more available, but I can understand wanting to avoid that work. I suggest you check with the manufacturer for best results.
