What will I loose if I use a reovery disc?

Q: When I bought my HP Pavilion, it was suggested that I make a Recovery disc, which I did. Question, since then, the machine has slow down to a crawl at times. Can I use this Recovery disc to reload and if so, what will I loose. I suspect it will just wipe everything out and put things back to the way it was when I bought the machine, is that correct?

    You are correct. Any personal data stored on your computer will be lost. The computer will be just as if you just took it out of the box the first time.
