How come my computer running Windows XP freezes up when I am on the Internet?

Q: im running windows xp with a 32 bit and only got sp2.when im on the internet it freezes and says windows not responding.i’ve tried to run without add ons.with no success..any help would be greatly appreciated..

    Have your tried running a different browser like Chrome, or firefox? If so do they work? See if you can get either those installed and verify if you can still get out to the internet.

    If you can it sounds like IE may have a problem or be corrupted.

    Another suggestion is to update your computer to XP SP3 to receive some needed security benefits and to continue to receive updates for a while longer from Microsoft.

    Also what version of IE are you running? I would assume IE7 if your are on SP2. Try upgrading to IE8 or IE9 and see if that resolves the browsing problem. If you are using IE8 try upgrading or downgrading back to IE7.
