Could anyone advise me how I can manually install them, and also if they are critical or optional updates.

Many Thanks as always,
Mandy

    Picked as best answer

go to Start > Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs

Uninstall any Microsoft .NET packages you see there.

Then to go this page: http://bit.ly/lTdptz and download and install the latest version from Microsoft.

    Hi Mark,
Thank you, once again your advice was spot on and in simple terms. I now seem to have another problem, my M.S.Essentials is showing as not installed in my task bar and I’m showing the warning ‘balloon’ stating that my lappop is at risk, however when I tried to download it again I received a message telling me it is already installed. There is no sign of M.S.E in my programs list so I went to Add and Remove Programs and tried to remove from there but for some reason it won’t delete. Could you offer any advice on how to resolve this issue? I also have Anti Maleware Bytes installed and a scan shows no malicious items found. I would really appreciate any pointers as to what is wrong and how to rectify it. Once again, thank you.
    Mandy

A manual uninstall might work, though their could be something else going on.

This page from Microsoft has some instructions which might be helpful: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2435760

Otherwise I can do a remote service call for a fee. E-mail at mark@askageek.com if you’re interested in that.
