How come I keep getting a message saying I don’t have enough free space even though I have deleted programs?

Q: hello, i have a toshiba laptop with vista and i keep getting a message up saying my disk space is low on vista drive C. i have tried deleting programs off and clearing everything but nothing seems to work. Help me please!

    Click on Computer, then right click on the icon for your C: drive and select properties.

    You should see a pie chart showing used space and free space. In GB, what does it show for

    Used Space
    Free Space
    Capacity

    If you use this tool called spacemonger (http://www.sixty-five.cc/sm/v1x.php) and download the version 1.4 it is a small executable and can even be run from a flash drive.

    Select to scan your C: drive and let it finish.

    This will tell you exactly how much space you have and what is using the most space. Then if you can let me know what is using the most space we can tell you how to clear it up.

    It may be from windows updates, or a folder called sxs in windows directory. Or if you have Symantec installed the definitions often get corrupt and fill up your drive. It could even be from a virus.
