Will a Xeon E5504 2.0GHz have sufficient processing power for a media server streaming movies to 24-32 clients?

The barebones server I’m looking at comes with one, and space for another. If one is not sufficient, would two be, or do I need to updgrade to a more powerful processor?

The streaming software you’re using will dictate any processor requirements. Consult the documentation or company of the software you’re planning on using.

It should be sufficient. The other question is how much RAM is the bare bones kit capable of. For streaming media I would probably try to load it up with memory. But you can always get a second processor to help speed things up a bit.
