How do I know how much memory is on a RAM chip by looking at it?
by JJJ on July 8, 2011Q: I have a PNY RAM chip, but it doesn’t specify the amount of GB it has. I have tried comparing to pictures but they all look the same to me. Is there a way to tell the amount of ram by looking at the card?

Is there a sticker on the RAM? If so, post a photo or type down everything it says on it.
You can upload the image to http://imgur.com/ if needed

With no sticker I can only suggest plugging it into a computer to see the capacity. If you don’t have a computer that supports the RAM, your next best option is to stop by a local PC shop and see if they can run the stick in a memory tester. That should tell you both the capacity of the stick and if it still works!
