How do I make the yellow light on my Canon printer stop blinking?

by on August 7, 2011

Q: My iP 1500 Canon printer’s yellow light was blinking 8 times, so I cleaned it and it works fine. However, I cannot find the code to enter to get the yellow light to stop blinking. I can reset it by pressing the left (on/off) button, but would love to just turn it on and off without having to reset it.

Do you know how I can get the code or how to reset the printer so that the yellow light does not blink each time I turn it on?

Thanks

The 8 flashes means that the waste ink absorber is full.

Assuming that you’ve already cleaned the waste ink absorber, you can reset the flashing light this way:

    STEP 1:
    – Disconnect printer from AC power

    STEP 2:
    – Press and HOLD the POWER button, and
    connect printer to AC power

If you haven’t cleaned the absorbers, you can try doing this:

Power up with the cover open until the head moves to the left side then disconnect the power cord so the head is now positioned away from the pads.
The two pads can be lifted up easily with a pair of sharp tweezers then rinsed in running water. They will become white again and can be blotted with paper napkins then air dried in a warm location. The wells in the rubber holder can be cleaned with cotton swabs before returning the two pads (left side first, then press down the right side).
