the best way to find a program it to click the start menu and then start typing the program you installed in the search bar. you can type partial name as well.
Then the program should show up that you installed.
Right click on the program and then hover over send to and them click send to desktop.

Ok that was the first thing I did was to try and search for it but it doesn t show up anywhere and I know the program is active because it automaticly loads anytime I have to restart my computer. The program Im looking for is Microsoft Security Essentials and it did at one time have a destop icon which for some reason is no longer there it just disappeared from my destop for no reason.

it seems like u have installed microsoft security essentials in the default directory(folder)..if so u may have go inside ur windows drive(commonly C drive)and go inside Program files.inside program files are list of directories respective to the programs u have installed.there u will see a directory called Microsoft Security Essentialsand inside it there will be a file called “msseces.exe”.right click on it and hover over send to and them click send to desktop.
