How do I get my pc to work on my Toshiba Regza HDTV?

by on August 8, 2011

Q: Hello, I have a Toshiba Regza 52″ and I would like to connect my pc to it. I tried connecting it earlier and the only thing it showed was the boot screen and the windows load, but after that it went black and said; “Unsupported Type”. How do I get my pc to work on my Toshiba??

Unsupported Type means the Laptop is outputting a resolution that isn’t compatible with the HDTV. Check the monitor resolutions supported by your TV. Assuming this is a 1080p HDTV the highest supported resolution is 1,920 x 1,080

If you’re still having trouble please provide the following:
    – Operating System and version
    – Make & Model of PC
    – What type of cables you’re using to hook up the PC to the TV.

I’ve tried that resolution before, and it didn’t work. My T.v is a Toshiba Regza 52″ 1080p Full HD LcdTv w/ Cinespeed & ColorBurst – 52HL167. I usually try to plug in with the standard pc-in port. I’m using VGA cables, because my pc doesn’t have the option for HDMI, which I’m assuming is due to the standard video card it has. Could this be the problem?

Make and model would help determine if you have some other options for hooking up to the the.

Is there a plug like this anywhere on the computer? http://i.imgur.com/EhrrF.jpg
