How do I gain access to a used computer running Windows XP that I bought that has a password?

Q: hi recently a friend of mine gave me a computer with a window XP professional program installed he got the computer from his job but when i turn on the computer it asks for a password. Which i dont have and my friend doesnt know either how can i reset the computer back to the factory setting. By the way i dont have any window XP reboot disk with me.

    You’re going to need a Windows XP install disk to reset the computer. This is always a good thing to do when you buy a used computer because otherwise you have no idea what kind of software is on the PC.

    If the computer is from a name brand pc builder like Dell, you can try contacting them about getting install Disks. If there is a Windows XP license sticker on the computer somewhere you can borrow an XP CD from a friend and use the license key on your computer.
