How come my HP laptop does not seem to work with my new LG LCD TV but works with my Samsung Plasma TV?
by lcsoccer10 on September 7, 2011Q: I have an HP laptop (almost 3 years old). I just bought an LG LCD tv. My laptop hooks up to my Samsung Plasma no problem via HDMI. With my new tv it will not connect. I have checked the cable and it works with my other tv so I know it’s not the cable. Any suggestions?
Review the manual for your new TV to make sure you’re selecting the correct input on the TV and outputting a supported resolution.

I’m using an HDMI cable so I’ve got that part. The TV has three different HDMI hook up possibilities, it does not say that one should be used specifically for TV purposes.
I have hooked it up to my other tv and it works just fine and I don’t even need to configure anything, it automatically reads it. On the LCD LG tv it just continues to search for the signal and cannot find anything.

Try all three HDMI connections and see if any work. Also make sure that the input setting on the TV is set to the HDMI plug that you are using.

I have tried all three components and made sure it is on HDMI on the tv and even reading as a computer device. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the help.

Sorry I have no more suggestions other than to have a technically inclined friend take a look at it or contact LG for support

Thank you for the suggestions. Yeah of course LG has no clue…they were my first people to call. Oh well, I’ll get it somehow or another. Thanks.
