Q: sometimes when first switching on the desktop is shifted to the left of the screen. If I log off and back on again it sorts itself out.
I thought it was soem issue with my web cam on the top of the flat screen but not convinced.
Win 7, Acer aspire x3400, P196HQV 19,” GeForce 9200 on board

Can you take a screenshot to show me what the problem looks like?

Thanks for the images. I’m going to guess that you are hooked up via a VGA connection.

There is a function button on the monitor which will bring up the control panel for the monitor. There will be an option called “auto”. Select it and your monitor will automatically adjust the screen.

If you’re having trouble finding the buttons to do this, consult your user manual, also available to download at this link: http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=2425

    Yes you are correct.
It’s a quicker way than Task manager and log off.
    It solves the immediate problem.
Still don’t know why it happens in the first place ‘though

    Thanks for the advice

If you switch to a dvi cable instead of your current VGA cable it should go away.

You can use an hdmi to dvi adapter.

I only appear to have a vga connector on the display!
