Is there a way to create a smartphone app that will report information from our clients to us?

Q: I work at a crop insurance company, and I am wondering if there is a way to build an iPhone application where they can type in certain information and report it to us via their smartphones? Our clients, young and old, seem to know how to use smartphones, so this would be a huge help!!

Yes you can. I’d probably suggest doing a mobile-friendly website so you can allow users of iPhones or phones running Android to send you the data without having to develop two separate mobile applications.

Additionally, just doing the website would allow those without a smartphone to enter the data on a normal PC, which also might be helpful if they have a lot of stuff to type.

You’ll want to talk to a few web site development teams to get some quotes. If you want to write up a document detailing what you want actually done and e-mail it to me: mark(at)askageek.com I can pass it along to a few teams I know personally.
