How come the fan on my MacBook runs all the time and i cannot connect to my airport anymore?

by on November 30, 2011

Q: I have a MacBook that is just over a year old. For a couple of weeks it has been acting up. The fan comes on and runs most of the time and at the same time the airport connection disappears. It tells me the airport is turned off but I cannot turn it back on. I can use the internet connected by cable to the modem but the airport is gone. I was able to let it rest overnight once and the airport came back but now it seems gone for good. I don’t think is over heating, it doesn’t feel hot but the fan runs most of the time even right after I start it up. I have OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.3. It is a MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Is it a software or hardware problem? I have seen other internet posts with a similar problem but no definitive fix. Thanks Kate
