Is there a service that will make it look like I am in a different country than I really am?

Q: I live in UK and want to watch streaming of french television. (I’m learning french). I can get quite a few channels with no problems but to watch some documentary channels I need to be resident in France. A VPN subscription is the obvious answer of course and I have tried that and it works fine. The problem is that I can then no longer view bbc iplayer and 4od (UK channels). Is there some alternative to VPN that I can use to hide my IP address? I have looked at all the VPN offers and none of them seem to have the capability to switch between countries. Once you have an IP address of your country of choice you are stuck with it – unless you unsubscribe of course – which defeats the whole object. Later on I will want to watch french AND german so I need something with more flexibility. I don’t mind paying a subscription. Any ideas please?

http://www.witopia.net/ appears to offer switching between countries, and http://www.strongvpn.com/ probably does as well.
