How do I connect the VGA on my laptop to my HDTV coverter box?

Q: I want to connect my Acer Aspire laptop to my tv to watch netflix. We have wireless internet and our tv has an HDTV converter box. I have a VGA on my laptop. What will I need to make this work??

    It depends on what kind of connections you have on your HDTV. You will need a cable that is VGA on one end and whatever connection type you have on your TV. The key here is VGA is analog so you cannot go directly from VGA to HDMI, for example, because HDMI is digital so you would need a box to translate from analog to digital.

    The best bet is to use an analog connection on your HDTV. If you let us know what kind of connections you have then we can better help you for sure.

    The one thing to keep in mind is that this just sends the picture. It will not send the sound. So you will have to have a connection for your sound as well, which is usually just a wire with your normal 3.5mm headset connector on each end. You just need to verify that you have this on your HDTV (most have it).
