Can I install Windows 7 on my computer that is currently running Windows Vista?

Q: I have windows Vista OS and need to install Windows 7 for a class that I’m taking in college.
If I buy windows 7 will it install easily and not screw up my computer?

    Yes you can install Windows 7. Do you want to upgrade or install a new version? With Vista you can upgrade to Windows 7 and is usually a easy and straight forward procedure.

    To verify that your system will run and will upgrade it is recommended to run the upgrade tool from Microsoft.

    Thank you for the reply. I took the leap and bought and installed Win 7 since I had no choice. One moment of crisis when I got a pop-up telling me that setup.exe was corrupt and unreadable with less than 200 files left to install! However, The install “fixed” the problem and install was completed with no further problems. SMOOTH!!

    Happy to hear that you were able to successfully able to install Windows 7. it is a great upgrade from Vista.
