Can I use my laptop screen as a monitor for my desktop computer?

by on February 1, 2012

Q: I can’t look at anything on my PC. The PC works and everything, but the monitor has this blue box bouncing up and down saying “This monitor is working. Please check the video cable and computer”. I’ve done all that but nothing is working. Before it started acting up I was changing display colors and stuff, and i clicked one thing and the screen went blank.

My question is can I use my laptop as a monitor so I can use my PC? Thanks so much.

  1.

Laptops only have video out not video in so you will not be able to use your laptop screen as a monitor for another computer.

The good news is you can find monitors for cheap on craigslist if you don’t mind the old CRT types. You might even be able to get them for free. Your other alternative would be to connect your computer to your TV.
