How come when I open my laptop lid I get disconnected from then internet and have to reconnect?

Q: I have a laptop and when I open the lid and try to connect to the internet it disconnects my internet then after the internet reconnects I can log on. How do I fix this?

    Sounds like your computer is going into Standby or Hibernation when you close the laptop screen. This is a very common default setting on laptops. Depending on the brand laptop that you have changing this option can be slightly different. I’ve provided a link on how to change this in XP but if you can provide me more details of your laptop brand, make, and what Operating system you are running I can further help.
