How come playing video off an external hard drive causes the voice to be out of sync?

by on March 5, 2012

Q: Sometimes when I download movies their fine and watchable on my computer but when I transfer them to my external hard drive sometimes the voice isn’t synced with the movie it will be off by a few seconds. Why is this and how do I fix it?

  1.

If you copy the files back to your local drive do they play fine again?

If they do play fine again the voices getting thrown off is probably due to read speeds on your USB drive. You may want to see if you have a faster USB port available on your computer(If you are using the front USB try the rear and see if it is USB 2.0)

If they are not playing fine they may be getting corrupt while copying them or the drive may be going bad and creates a bad block.
