Should I go with the Dell Optiplex 390 or the Acer Veriton L1486G?

by on March 13, 2012

Q: Hi, I’m looking for a new small form factor pc and am considering the Dell Optiplex 390 and the Acer Veriton L1486G. Both would have Intel 2nd Gen i5, 4GB ram and 500gb hd. The pc will be for normal home use – internet, email, photos, music, no gaming. Would you have any advice or recommendations? Thanks

I’m having trouble finding a spec sheet for the Veriton for whatever reason, could do you mind posting links to the exact model of each you’re interested in buying?

    Thanks

The biggest difference are the fine details.

The Dell has an HDMI port with a DVI dongle.

The Acer has wireless connectivity on it.

I have had several Dells with minimal problems. their support has always been very helpful as well.

It basically comes down to which one you want. Personally I would consider the Dell.

The three-year warranty the Acer appears to have is pretty nice. Dell I think changes for an warranty past one year.

Whoops, meant to say that Dell normally *charges* for an warranty extended past one year.

Agreed that a 3 year warranty is nice. I overlooked that . Dell does charge for anything over a year and it can get quite expensive.
