What do I need to run a computer array?
by Cadet on April 6, 2012Q: i want to run a computer array. like 10 computers doing the same task at the same time independently.
but place them either in a net work or in one container/box.
1. what do i need
2.what do i need to know
3. can they be different types or do they have to be the same,
i would prefer to use -used computers because they do not need to be brand new to do this task.

I guess I would need to better understand the purpose of these computers running. Is this a server that you are trying to run and load balance the traffic?
This can be accomplished in a multitude of ways, Yes you can place them all in the same network or if you have a virtualized environment you can put them all on the same physical box.

Yes, please provide more details of what you want task you want these computers to actually perform for you.
If this is more of a data processing goal, you might want to read up on hadoop: http://hadoop.apache.org/
