What limits the download speed when using torrents?
by AbdAlKarem on May 25, 2012Q: If I am downloading a torrent with only 2 seeds.
with a internet speed of 10mbps
and the download speed is about 100 kbps.
Would it go up if I had a 20 or 50 or 100 mbps connection?
Or is it limited by the amount of seeders so it wouldn’t make a difference?

There are a lot of variables that play in the speed of bittorrents.
Your sharing speed will sometimes block you from connecting to users.
The firewall port on your modem/router.
Your ISP may block/filter torrents/limit the speeds.
The seed ratio depending on the site/torrent yor are downloading.
Generally speaking a faster speed from your ISP will generally allow faster downloads.

In this instance you’re probably limited by the 2 seeders.
