How can I find out if QuickBooks 2007, Dreamweaver, and my other programs will work if I upgrade to Windows 7?

by on August 23, 2012

Q: I have a desktop computer running XP with some typical programs like Dreamweaver 4 and 8, Quickbooks 2007 and a bunch of others. Rather than upgrade to Windows 7 I would buy a desktop computer new with 7 on it. My question is would it be likely that my programs (the ones on CD as well as the ones downloaded) will work ok on the Windows 7 machine?

From what I can find installing quickbooks on Windows 7 is not reccomended by intuit. Dreamweaver 8 is also not listed compatible on Windows 7.

You can always installed XP mode on Windows 7 which is a virtual machine of XP that will run “legacy” programs.

To check software you can follow this link; http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

For more info on XP mode go to this site: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

Quickbooks 2007 is explicitly not supported in Windows 7: http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/Articles/INF12420

You’ll also need to upgrade to at least Dreamweaver CS5 or newer to support Windows 7 64-bit.

For any other programs: consult the Windows 7 Compatibility center:
