Is it normal for a new laptop to take 7 minutes to boot up?

by on September 2, 2012

Q: Just purchased a Toshiba C850 laptop, Celeron Processor B820, 4GB DDR3 1333 MHz memory, with a 320 GB Harddrive (5400rpm, Serial ATTA). My question is; it takes 7 min to get to the welcome screen fron the off position. Is this “NORMAL”, or is it too slow? I think its too slow.

If you’re not happy with it, consider returning it.

If you’re budget allows for it, consider purchasing a laptop with a solid state hard drive. You’ll see a much faster system start up time.

Just following up. The problem was that I had installed AVAST w/o first removing Nortons. Since doing so, it’s good; 15 seconds from off to signing in. I’m happy.
    Thanks,,
