How come my computer keeps going back to Post after installing more RAM?

by on September 22, 2012

Q: I have a Acer Aspire NAV50 (532h-2588 running Genuine Windows 7 Starter. It has been running well on 1GB of RAM but when I try to upgrade it to 2GB (which the bios sees just fine) it cycles back to the Post after trying to boot to windows. If I put the old stick back in … it works fine. I even upgraded to Win 7 E and it still does the same when using the 2GB stick. This is the memory that Acer recommended for this model. Any thoughts?

  1.

check the 2GB RAM DDR2 model or DDR3 model if DDR3 means not supported….check the RAM models….

  2.

You might have a defective stick of memory.

I did put it through a memory diag test. It passed all.

It is a DDR2 model, This was Acers recommendation:Aspire NAV50 (532h-2588 ) Notebook Acer system performance will improve by increasing memory capacity to the maximum of 2GB. The 2 DIMM slots utilize DDR2-667 PC2-5300 200 PIN Small Outline Dual In-line Memory Modules. And that is what I got. I even put it through a memory diag test. It passed all.

Single channel with one soDIMM slot:
•DDR2 667 MHz SDRAM memory interface design
•soDIMM slot: Supports 1 GB/2 GB soDIMMs for total system memory of up to 2 GB

ok your notebook supports only windows 7 starter pack,xp sp3,windows7 home basic..windows 7 E not supported for this notebook…check the RAM if you fixed it correctly, after inserting the 2GB RAM,start your laptop..press f12,go to boot option and check whether it shows your RAM name and memory size…select the RAM model save it..try to install windows 7 starter again and install all drivers…after this process still the problem continues… just go to the service center.
