How much CPU speed, RAM, and disk space do I really need?

Q: How much CPU speed, RAM, and disk space do I really need? I am running WIndows XP, MS Office 2010, as well as several eLearning and design programs (Articulate Studio, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign). My machine meets the minimum requirements for eachof these applications, but I am still having issues, especially with Articulate Studio being very slow or freezing.

  1.

The requirements for the Articulate Studio do not seem to require much from a PC to run. There may be other errors in your PC happening or temp files that need to be cleaned out. I might suggest running a disk cleanup and a defrag of your primary HDD.

As for programs like photoshop they can use a lot of system resources when running the program. If you have problems with these apps I might suggest upgrading the RAM in your PC.

What CPU is currently in your computer, and how much RAM do you have?

Given that you’re still running Windows XP, I’m willing to bet you’re running a somewhat older computer.

Note that “minimum requirements”, generally means the absolute slowest computer that will still be able to run the software.

Generally you want to be running whatever the “Recommended” specs are.

If you’re working on large Photoshop Projects, and running more than one of these programs at a time, for best results you probably are going to want a computer running Windows 7 64bit, with 8Gigs of RAM and a modern processor.
