Why does Microsoft Office Word 2007 cause the whole computer to freeze when clicking the Apple logo?

Q: Why does Microsoft Office Word 2007 cause the whole computer to freeze when clicking the Apple logo symbol?

When we were writing school documents, I decided to try out adding the Apple logo into the document. When I clicked it, the whole computer froze like the processor would’ve crashed (Ctrl + alt + del didn’t work, the mouse didn’t move, etc.). The same thing with all school computers, OS Windows XP and the year was 2009. None of the other symbols caused this. Is this some kind of a Microsoft marketing trick?

Not a marketing trick at all. Word likely had trouble bringing up edit controls for the image, possibly because it was a very large image file. Also could have been some kind of data corruption with the image file itself.

Regardless, Word isn’t wasting time trying to analyze an image file to decide if it should crash itself. That’s just silly!
