Will a GeForce GT 610 work in a Dell PowerEdge server tower?

by on November 4, 2012

Q: Will a EVGA GeForce GT 610 with 2GB of RMA work with a Delll PowerEdge SC1430 with 2GB of RAM?

I know its a server tower. The reason I ask is because I’m not too sure how PCI-E works with all the different bus speeds.

Will my PCI-E slots accept any PCI card that has this backwards support? PCI-E 2.0 specifically if I’m right?

  1.

It looks like this server dosen’t have any PCI-E 16x slots. Only an 8x. Since this video card needs a PCI-E 16x slot, you’re going to be out of luck.

Put simply, the slot isn’t big enough to install the card.

    would a x8 > x16 adapter work?

I won’t garuntee it, but there is a high probability of it working. I suggest purchasing these items from a shop with a good return policy.

Sweet man. That’s enough to make me go get one. I’ve had feedback from various other sites and read a bit more info. I’m pretty confident that this will work and did need a second opinion, so thanks UberGeek.
