What would be the best and most economical business equipment to get for a new small business?

by on November 14, 2012

Q: I am starting a small business working with mortgage companies. I need the following equipment. fax/scanner/printer, good digital camera, phone system and possibly a new laptop or desktop computer. I will receive work orders by fax, go to the property, complete the work order, take photos and then scan the photos and then fax the photos and work orders back to the mortgage company. I have wifi and would like to use it as much as possible. What would be the best office equipment to purchase that would interact with each other? I would like to go cost effective, but will spend the money for a better outcome.

  1.

Do the mortage companys you’ll be working with require you to send them faxes, or would e-mail be acceptable?

E mail response should be fine if I can attach the photo and the inspection. I will also need a number system to cross reference the inspection and the photo.

Sorry, I just saw your reply now. You shouldn’t need anything fancy at all.

Any decent point-and-shoot camera and a simple document scanner are going to be just fine for your needs. Just make sure to backup all your information. Consider an on-line storage service like dropbox.com, so if your computer breaks you don’t lose your records!
