Can I make the C drive on my new Lenovo Windows 7 computer larger?

by on November 29, 2012

Q: New Lenovo A720 Windows 7
64G SSD is C drive
1TB Hard disk is D drive
Question: can I make the C drive larger – reallocate some of the D to C? The reason I want to do this that the programs / data on my old computer is too large to fit on the new C drive.

Alternative: should I put operating system only on the SSD and all libraries / programs / data on the D drive. If this is the way to go how to I make the default libraries on the C point to ‘my documents’ etc. on the D drive.

You can’t make the C drive any bigger, unless you go out and buy a bigger SSD to replace it with.

Keeping just your OS on the SSD and possibly any major applications you always use would be a good idea.

To change the path to My Documents, right click on My Documents. Click Properties, select the Location tab and type in the new path you want to use. Repeat for your other libraries.
