If your router has wireless suport you can just buy a wireless card for your other desktop PC and then you’ll be able to connect to the network.

i understand that i can also use a usb network adaptor and connect to main desktop. is that correct? One thing i was wondering is the new desktop pc is at the other end of the house. Can i still connect that far away from main pc?

I think we’re both more or less talking about the same thing.

That said though, you might want to take a little time and make sure you understand the baiscs of home networking. Here is a nice article to get you started: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57485724-1/home-networking-explained-heres-the-url-for-you/
