Q: How safe is Dropbox and should one store sensitive and personal info in there?

    It’s as safe as you make it.

    I’d suggest the following:
    1. Use Dropbox’s 2-factor authentication system
    2. Don’t use a password for dropbox that you use on any other websites.
    3. Ideally, don’t use the same password one more that one website (if you password gets stolen from one site with poor security, hackers will attempt to use that password on other websites).
    4. Also encrypt the files using file encryption tool such as Axcrypt: http://www.axantum.com be sure to use a strong password, see their FAQ so you understand.

    This is pretty aggressive security, and should be more than enough unless you’re being perused by a government agency 🙂
