How come I get unsolicited invitations to a consumer guide survey?

by on January 16, 2013

Q: I have an Acer 7520 laptop, using windows Vista 32 bit OS

Recently, and at least a couple of times each day, an unsolicited Invitation to complete a Consumer Guide Survey, pops up and I can’ proceed with whatever I’m doing. I just have to reboot, which is an annoying waste of time.
I’ve searched ‘All Prograns’ to see if there’s anything I can see to uninstall, but can’t see aything to uninstall.
Can you please advise how to stop this.

There is some kind of an “ad-ware” program installed on your computer. This may have been part of some piece of free software you downloaded and installed on your computer.

There are a number of great programs you can use to clean this junk off your computer. However, some of them can conflict with others.

Try using the free edition of Super AntiSpyware to clean up your computer. http://www.superantispyware.com/

Also let me know what other anti-virus or other security software you have installed.

      Hi Mark ,

Thank you for replying so quickly. I have the free edition of SuperAnti Spyware, and so I did as you suggested, Mark, and ran a scan.

It detected 33 threats including 7 Adware tracking Cookies, so it then removed all of them.

The problem has not recurred today, so I think you have solved the problem for me.

I also have, in a folder,

Skybot Search and Detroy, Spyware Blaster and Malware Bytes. So should the problem resurrect, I will try each in turn.

      Thank You for you help,
