Is there anyway to figure out if someone copied my entire hard drive using my USB port?

by on February 20, 2013

Q: I had a friend visit and needed to use my pc for work stuff. during his visit he needed a usb port to charge his cell phone. Now I am suspicious that he may have downloaded my hard drive. I wasnt watching him the entire time.
Other than asking him, Is there any way to find out if my hard drive was recently downloaded onto a device? like a flashdrive or anything else?

You should be able to tell if they plugged a USB drive into your computer by looking at the log files in event viewer. The logs for USB installation should be within the system file logs. Look between the times that you allowed them to use the computer. As far as if they did copy data there really isn’t any way to tell what data they may have copied. You can always confront them and ask them why they are putting their stick in your slots!
