How come my computer tells me I cannot move a file to the trash from my USB thumb drive because it cannot be deleted?
by bekahbee on March 2, 2013Q: How do I delete files off a USB stick? I plugged my USB stick into my mac and I opened up the folder and dragged some things into the trash can. But then it says, “This can’t be moved to the trash because it cannot be deleted”.

Simplest fix:
Copy any files you want to keep off the USB drive, then right click on the USB drive and do a quick format.
This will delete everything on the USB stick. Problem solved!
