Will connecting my iPhone to my computer after reinstalling the operating system delete all the music off my phone?

by on March 27, 2013

Q: So my computer deleted everything and so I’m having to reinstall everything, including my itunes. Even though I won’t have all of my songs on my computer, if I plug in my phone, will everything get deleted off of it?

Trojan – You shouldn’t be too screwed in this case….

Your IOS device (Iphone, Ipod touch, etc…) can transfer all purchased music back to itunes but you will need to authorize your rebuilt computer first. Pleas follow the apple Article. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
This article also has useful information regarding all purchased Media types. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519

I had also found another Post on Apple discussion forums that someone has posted a link to a bunch of other useful utilities that may be helpful. Check out the last post from user “Zevoneer”. https://discussions.apple.com/message/10570955?messageID=10570955#10570955

From the research that I’ve found, One step that I would do right away to prevent from wiping your device is to open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box “Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods” and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.

Best of luck, Let us know how you end up making out.
