How come my Internet seems faster after adding another wireless adaptor to my computer?

by on April 24, 2013

Q: If a computer can’t use the connection from two wireless adapters at the same time then why does my internet seem faster. It is still not fast enough but connecting an additional adapter did improve my reception. Really what I want to know is if a computer can only use one adapter then which one is it using because they are both connected. I just want better internet and I’m sick of spending money to get it.

If you have a wireless repeater set up, I hope i am understanding you correctly, your reception will improve which will them improve your connection speed. To find out which device you are connecting to you can run a tool called inSSIDer. http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/ This tool will show you which connection you are connect to and you can verify by mac address which device it is.

The best connection is a wired connection. As well your connection will only run as fast as the cables allow it to (CAT5, CAT5e, & CAT6) and as fast as your internet connection.

Hopefully that helps you out some. If you need more information I can gladly help out.
