How can I figure out what password is needed for a CD that came with a book back in 1990?

by on May 30, 2013

Q: I bought a book at a used book store that had a disc enclosed.
There is a program included that requires a password, but the company was sold a couple of times since the middle 90’s so there is no way to find out what the code is.
Is there a program that I can use to “crack” the code?

  1.

What’s the name of the book, and the ISBN number of it?

  2.

The Kingdom of the Cults by Dr. Walter Martin
    ISBN: 1-55661-714-3

Thanks for the information. The good news at least is that the password is going to be the same for every copy of that edition of the book.

You’ll just need to track someone else down that owns the book and see if they’ll give you the password. Or find another copy in a bookstore and make note of the password.

Cracking it is probably possible, but it would need to be specialized specifically to that CD. There isn’t an off the shelf tool you’ll be able to just plug it into.
