    Advanced format just means that the size of sectors on the drive are 4k instead of 512 bytes. The main reason for this is to allow for higher capacity hard drives. Drives with 4k physical sectors are fairly common now, this tech came out in 2010.

    A Hybrid drive where the drive is part mechanical and also has some SSD storage cache should give you a boost in some situations vs a standard mechanical drive.

    That said, I suggest you still take a look at reviews and benchmarks to determine what drive will best suit your needs.
