Error Launching Adobe Photo Deluxe Home Edition 3.0

by on November 1, 2006

Q: I am getting the following error message when I launch Adobe Photo Deluxe Home Edition 3.0.

“The SHELL32.DLL file is linked to missing export SHLWAPI.DLL: SHRegGetUSValueA.”

I can no longer use the application can you help?

A: This problem seems to be fairly common with a variety of Adobe products. All is not lost though; here are the steps to fixing the problem:

1. You will need to find your way to your C:\Program Files\Photodeluxe HE 3.0\ folder (this is the default installation directory, if you changed your installation directory then you will need to make your way there) either by using Windows Explorer or by clicking on My Computer.

2. In this folder you will need to locate the files URLMON.DLL and SHLWAPI.DLL and then rename them to URLMON.OLD and SHLWAP.OLD respectively.

3. Reboot your computer and everything should work fine!

How can I get Adobe PhotoDeluxe to install on my new computer?

by on May 18, 2010

Q: I just acquired a Dell Studio 17 1749 laptop. I want to install Adobe PhotoDeluxe3.0 Home Edition so I can use my Umax scanner. I’ve inserted the program disk into the DVD drive on the side of the laptop and followed the instructions on screen until I arrived at a screen with an “Install” button displayed and instructions to click on the button. I do this but nothing happens. The application does not install. How can I install the program?

How come Windows tells me D:\ is not a valid application when I try to run Adobe PhotoDeluxe

by on June 13, 2009

Q: I am using Adobe PhotoDeluxe home edition 4.0. I used to be able to use it fine but now I am getting an error message saying D:\ is not a valid Win 32 application. I tried uninstalling it and I still get this when I click on it in my computer. I also have the 3.0 series. I tried putting that one in and it will come up to install but when I click on install nothing happens. I went through your Q&A on your site about it. One said to go to properties and click compatible for 2000 but I do not see that available to click on. I am working on Windows XP.

Replacing Adobe PhotoDeluxe with Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition no longer works

by on January 8, 2009

Q: I’ve read online that the best way to handle problems with Adobe PhotoDeluxe get updates from Adobe. But Adobe’s support website doesn’t even list PhotoDeluxe anymore. What are my options? I’m running Windows XP. Thanks!

A: PhotoDeluxe updates are still available on the Adobe website, but they are difficult to locate because Adobe has neither updated nor supported PhotoDeluxe in several years.

Some users have reported that replacing Adobe PhotoDeluxe with a free program called Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition is not a good option, so you may wish to consider installing other reputable free photo programs: Windows Live Photo Gallery, Kodak EasyShare, Google Picasa, etc.

Tip: For those needing a free program that is similar to Adobe Photoshop, I recommend GIMP.

How can I get Adobe PhotoDeluxe and Adobe Flash Player to play nice?

by on December 12, 2008

Q: I am running Adode PhotoDeluxe 4.0 on a Windows XP Service Pack 3 computer. Once I installed Adobe Flash Player v10, PhotoDeluxe no longers opens. When I de-install Flash Player v10, PhotoDeluxe runs fine. I realize that PhotoDeluxe is an obsolete product, but there is nothing like it for ease of use & versatility. And, a lot of websites require Flash Player v10. Is there a way to tweak something to make them both work?
